FNE at FINALE Plzen: Nothing Against Nothing

By FNE Staff

{mosimage}PLZEN: Director Petr Marek screen his thirty-something film Nothing Against Nothing in the main competition of the Czech national film festival FINALE, running through 28 April 2012. The film is among the most in-demand tickets at the festival.

Marek also co-wrote and co-starred in the film, as well as sharing DoP duties. He also produces through his company Unarfilm, along with the Czech production company that specializes in documentaries, Hypermarket (www.hypermarket.cz).

Marek used a pared down production style to explore the world of adults in their thirties, all of whom were adopted and who meet for a reunion. The cast (largely composed of debuting film actors) are each identified by their own first names in the film. The film explores the questions of social commitment and the social exclusion.

The film premiered at the 2011 Karlovy Vary film festival (www.kviff.cz) and was theatrically released in the Czech Republic on 13 October by art house distributor ArtCam (www.artcam.cz).
