    PRAGUE: Czech Television (www.ceskatelevize.cz) will begin broadcasts of its new children’s channel in mid-2013, Czech TV general director Petr Dvořák announced.

    The children´s channel, now known as Czech Television 3, was a central part of the platform that Dvořák presented prior to his election to the post.

    Broadcasts could begin on 1 May 2013, the 60th anniversary of the public broadcaster. The new channel will broadcast 24 hours daily, with programming for adult audiences after 10pm. Petr Koliha was named Executive Director for the channel. Koliha returns to Czech TV, where he worked until 2002, when he became the director of the Zlin Film Festival.

    Czech commercial broadcaster TV Prima (www.iprima.cz) will launch Prima Zoom, a channel featuring documentaries, series and magazines. The new channel, which joins Prima Family, Prima Cool and Prima Love, received a broadcast licence for 12 years and has to broadcast a minimum 15 hours a day. Marek Singer, general director of Prima TV, said, “The new TV channel is for everybody who is interested in discovering interesting places, people and stories.”
