The creative team behind Walking Too Fast (Pouta) - director Radim Špaček, screenwriter Ondřej Štindl, DoP Jaromír Kačer and producer Vratislav Šlajer - have wrapped two months of shooting for coming-of-age film Places (Mista), the second in a planned trilogy examining the changing face of the contemporary Czech Republic.

The film, about love, loss and revenge, is a rare Czech look at life in the 90's and stars progressive young actors Vladimír Polívka, Johana Matoušková and Jan Cina and was shot in and around Ústí nad Labem, coming out on schedule for its 33-day shoot despite delays caused by the June flooding.

"With Walking Too Fast we succeeded in capturing the essence of the 1980's in a way that was relevant to both younger and older audiences," Šlajer told FNE.  "We want to achieve the same effect with Places." But rather than "the darker elements of human nature and the totalitarian political system, Places is a more audience-friendly film with sympathetic young characters," he added. Šlajer called the film "the perfect metaphor for a young country emerging into a new political and social landscape. So as always with Bionaut Films we are trying to do something a little different, a little new and a little challenging."

The project, budgeted at 1.2 m EUR (27m CZK) is a Czech-Slovak co-production by Bionaut Films, Slovakia's PubRes, Czech TV‎, with support from the Czech Cinematography Fund and tax rebate and in co-operation with SoundSquare and i/o post.

The thriller Walking Too Fast, produced by Bionaut, won five Czech Lions in 2011, including best film, director and screenplay and was one of the most
acclaimed Czech films of the last 20 years.

Places, distributed by CinemArt, should open in the first half of 2014.
