FESTIVALS: Home Takes Febiofest Grand Prix

    PRAGUE: The Swedish-Icelandic romantic tragicomedy Home (Hemma), the first film by director Maximilian Hult, won the main award and a prize of 5,000 EUR at Febiofest’s closing ceremony on 28 March 2014.

    The film will also receive 5,000 EUR in distribution support from the festival. The award was presented by the jury’s honorary chairman, the Oscar-winning costume designer Theodor Pistek.

    Special mentions went to Life Feels Good (dir. Maciej Pieprzyca, Tramway Studio Filmowe) and Rock the Casbah (dir. Yariw Horowitz).

    Home is the story of 27-year-old who first meets her grandmother at her grandfather’s funeral. She decides to stay with her grandmother in the country. The film has already been awarded the Audience Award at the Pusan IFF and the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury at IFF Mannheim-Heidelberg. The Febiofest award was chosen by a jury composed of 33 members of the audience.

    The 2014 edition of the Prague festival recorded 61,500 attendances. It travels to 13 cities across the Czech Republic over the next three weeks.
