Goat Wins Karlovy Vary Pitch Prize

    KARLOVY VARY: Slovak director Ivan Ostrochovsky’s feature film debut project Goat was then popular winner of the 10th edition of Works in Progress Award, presented at the Karlovy Vary IFF on 8 July 2014.

    Goat (Koza) is a Slovak/Czech coproduction produced by Ostrochovsky for sentimentalfilm and Czech producer Jiri Konecny for endorfilm. Both were present to receive the award worth 10,000 EUR in services from Barrandov film studio.

    A total of 51 projects applied for the works in progress pitching forum, with 15 projects selected to be presented to a three-member jury, including five projects with Czech participation and nine director’s debut films. The jury commended the high quality of the projects, which ranged from animation to drama, fantasy to romance, and road movie to comedy.

    In its statement, awarding the most promising film, the jury commended the film’s “sad and funny visual style” and the “light-weight touches into heavy-weight narrative.”
