Czech AV Law Moves One Step Closer to Approval

By

PRAGUE: An important amendment to the Czech audiovisual law has moved one step closer to approval after being approved by the lower house of the Czech parliament this week.

The law which would pump more money into the State Fund for the Support and Development of Cinematography is still to be assessed by the upper house of the parliament before final approval but is expected to be passed into law later this year.

The legislation would mean more than a million Czech crowns a year for the fund as well as bringing greater transparency to the system.

The additional funding would be used for the production and promotion of Czech films as well as film education.
