PLZEŇ: Thirteen Czech and Slovak films will compete in the Golden Kingfisher competition for Best Feature Live Action or Animated Film at Finale Plzen, which will take place on 15- 21 April 2016.

The festival brings several changes including a new organizer led by its director, Eva Veruňková Košařová. The program focuses on screening competition films, showcasing the full Czech feature cinema production of 2015 and a selection of Slovak films. A new concept also brings screenings outside the competition categories, which are not limited to Czech and Slovak cinema.

Festival ZOOM will offer films that won at international and national film festivals. Other sections are Czech Traces in International Coproduction and Exporting Beauty.

The films will be competing in the following categories: Best Feature Live Action or Animated Film, Best Documentary, Best Series and Non-series TV project. The chairman of the international jury that awards the Golden Kingfisher is the writer and producer Mike Reiss, the creator of The Simpsons and Ice Age.
