FESTIVALS: Anifilm Awards Anomalisa

    TREBON, CZECH REPUBLIC: The Czech festival of animation Anifilm, which concluded on 8 May 2016, gave its best adult animated film award to Anomalisa by Duke Johnson and Charlie Kaufman.

    The best animated film for children went to Phantom Boy by Alaina Gagnol and Jean-Loup Felicioli.

    The festival’s industry section, the Visegrad Animation Forum VAF pitching session, gave its prize for best short film to the French/Hungarian project Carpel by Tibor Bánóczki and Sarolta Szabó. The VAF prize in the TV Series pitching went to the Hungarian/Croatian project The Piracy of Princess Priceless by director Flora Anna Buda.

    Some 27,000 admissions were recorded at the 2016 edition of the festival.

    Best Music Video: EZ3kiel: The Eye of the Storm (France, Japan)
    Directed by Masanobu Hiraoka

    Best Abstract and Non-narrative Film: Absent (Austria, Germany)
    Directed by Nikki Schuster
