KARLOVY VARY: Czech and US based producer Jeffrey Brown concluded a deal at the Karlovy Vary IFF (running through 9 July) to sell the documentary film Yallah! Underground to Sundance Global.

Brown told FNE the film is about "underground, alternative culture in the Middle East." The Czech/German/Canadian/Egyptian coproduction was shot for 200,000 EUR and produced through director Farid Eslam's company Mind Riot.

Brown, who has been an active producer of indie Czech films over the past two decades, said he recently completed production on the Czech/US documentary Vinyl Generation directed by Keith Jones. The film, about the 80’s generation of Czechs, is now in postproduction for a late 2016/early 2017 release, most likely on VOD. The documentary is produced by Bear and Dove (Czech Republic) and Peligroso Productions (USA) on a budget of 100,000 EUR.

Bear and Dove is also the Czech production company on Listopad, a narrative feature film coproduced with the US company Laughing Dragon on a 500,000 EUR budget. The film, which was directed by Gary Griffin, will be distributed on the Blue Sky VOD platform on 28 October 2016.

Brown's Czech company Bratri teamed up with Czech TV on Pirating Pirates, a 240,000 EUR documentary that is currently receiving a VOD release on the DA Films platform and will be released on Blue Sky in the fall.
