PRAGUE: A massive fire broke out at Prague Barrandov Studio on the night of 26 August 2016, causing damage estimated at approximately 3.7 m EUR. The set of Knightfall, the US television drama series which started shooting for the History Channel in July 2016, burnt down.

Firefighters succeeded to bring the fire under control on the same night using helicopters. No injuries have been reported. The reason of the fire has not been clarified yet.

Petr Tichý, Barrandov Studio’s CEO, told the Czech media that the production of Knightfall will go on even without the set of the medieval city, which burned down, using smaller sets which are undamaged and also shooting exterior scenes. The representatives of Barrandov Studio and the producers of the series are currently planning the next step of the production.

Knightfall chronicles the events that led up to the persecution and downfall of the Knights Templar. Prague-based Stillking Films is providing services. Before coming to the Czech Republic, the 10-episode series had three shooting days in Croatia.
