PRAGUE: Czech Film and Television Academy selected Lost in Munich by Petr Zelenka to be the country‘s entry to the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 89th Academy Awards. The film was selected from among 49 feature films, documentaries and animated films.

Lost in Munich by Petr ZelenkaSir P, a 90-year-old talking grey parrot that once belonged to Edouard Daladier, finds himself in Prague at the invitation of the French Cultural Institute, as a living relic of the time of the Munich Agreement. The Czech side organises a rather absurd press conference, at which the gentleman does indeed repeat certain key statements ascribed to his erstwhile owner.

The parrot is kidnapped by Pavel, a Czech journalist, and his controversial statements on Edouard Daladier cause something of an accidental political scandal. Petr Zelenka wrote the script.

Lost in Munich was produced by Lucky Man Films in coproduction with the Czech Television and Barrandov Studio. It was supported by the Czech Cinematography Fund. The film is the winner of Czech Critics’ Awards in 2016.
