PRAGUE: Oddsockeaters / Lichožrouti by Galina Miklínová , the most attended animated film in Czech cinemas, heads to distribution in Poland, South Korea, China and the United Arab Emirates. Distribution in English speaking territories is currently under negotiation, as producer Ondrej Trojan told the Czech press.

The family film based on a story of Pavel Šrut has reached 340,000 admissions in Czech and Slovak cinemas and will be published on DVD soon.

The film portraits the oddsockeaters, creatures that take our socks and are responsible for humanity having only odd socks where once there were pairs. A world very similar to our own human world is painted onto a gangster tale of two enemy oddsockeater gangs, the conflict of generations, of moralities, though in a gentle and humorous style. The film was nominated by Czech Critics for best film and best audiovisual work of 2016, and had also two nominations for Czech Lions.

Oddsockeatres was produced by Total HelpArt T.H.A. in coproduction with Czech TV – the Film Centre, PubRes (Slovakia), Alkay Animation Prague and Filmosaurus Rex (Croatia). Falcon is the Czech distributor, while international sales are handled by LEVEL K.
