FNE at Zlin Fest 2017: Competition Films Announced

    ZLIN: The 57th International Film Competition of Children's Films in Zlin, running 26 May - 3 June 2017, has again lined up an international selection of films for the children and youth competition sections, reaching to such diverse territories as India, Iran and Chile, as well as the US, Canada and across Europe. The one domestic film in the two main competition sections, each consisting of eight films, is the Slovak/Czech coproduction Little Harbour by Slovak director Iveta Grofova.

    A total of 62 countries, the largest international representation in the history of the world’s oldest children’s film festival, are represented in the festival, with 326 films being screened.

    The festival will have a special focus on Sweden, including the 110th anniversary of the birth of the Pippi Longstocking author Astrid Lindgren.

    This year the festival will introduce a new works in progress section to introduce new children’s films being produced in the Czech Republic. The industry section will also explore online streaming and virtual reality for the first time.
