FNE at Anifilm 2018: Animated Coproduction Wins First VAF Feature Pitching Forum

    TREBON: The four-country coproduction Of Unwanted Things and People won the first animated feature film pitching award at the Visegrad Animation Forum (VAF), which was held during the Czech festival of animation Anifilm, which concluded on 6 May 2018.

    The project was represented by Juraj Krasnohorsky of the Slovak production company Artichoke and Czech producer Martin Vandas from MAUR Film. The project is a coproduction with ZVVIKS (Slovenia) and WJTeam/Likaon (Poland), with support from Creative Europe MEDIA, the Czech State Film Fund, the Slovak Audiovisual Fund and the Slovenian Film Fund. The directors, one from each country, are David Sukup (CZ), Ivana Laucikova (SK), Agata Gorzadek (PL) and Leon Vidmar (SI).

    Serbia took home two main pitching awards. The TV Series/Specials pitch award went to the Serbian animated series Rabbit from a Tin Hat. The short film pitching award went to the Serbian film Floating directed by Jelena Milunovic.

    The VAF post-production award from Poland’s Playade Sound Studio went to the Polish project I Come Undone.

    The Anifilm award for Best Feature Film for Children went to Irish director Nora Twomey for her film The Breadwinner. Korean director Yongsun Lee won the award for the Best Feature Film for Grown-ups with his film I’ll Just Live in Bando.
