FESTIVALS: Czechs Launch Festival Honouring Doc Filmmaker Pavel Koutesky

    PRAGUE: A new Czech-German film festival of documentary films, Elbe Dock, created in connection with the 12th edition of the Pavel Koutecky Award, is bringing contemporary Czech and German documentaries to two cities near the Czech-German border, Usti nad Labem and Dresden.

    Koutecky was a well-liked documentary filmmaker who died in 2006 while making a film about the risks taken by people who climb skyscrapers. He had numerous awards, including nominations for the European Film Awards and the LUX Prize.

    The festival takes place 16-20 May 2018 in Usti nad Labem and moves to Dresden 24-26 May.

    Five full-length and three short documentaries have been selected by the jury, out of 83 film submitted:
