    KARLOVY VARY: The Romanian film I Do Not Care If We Go Down in History as Barbarians directed by Radu Jude took home the Crystal Globe and a cash prize of 25,000 USD at the 53 Karlovy Vary International Film Festival held from 29 June to 7 July in the Czech spa town of Karlovy Vary. The film is a coproduction between Romania, Czech Republic, France, Bulgaria and Germany.

    Coproductions from the region reigned supreme scooping most of the top prizes at the festival with successful collaborations between producers in Romania, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Poland, Slovakia, Latvia, Lithuania and Russia all taking home prizes.

    The FIPRESCI International Critics Prize went to Sueño Florianópolis / Sueño Florianópolis (Argentina, Brasil, France) directed by Ana Katz, while the daily ratings of the films in the Main Competition and East of the West organised by FNE and FIPRESCI were hotly followed.     In the Industry section of the festival the Works in Progress Award went to the project All This Victory (Lebanon, France, Germany) by director Ahmad Ghossein, who will receive an award consisting of post-production services in UPP (60 000 Euro), Soundsquare (30 000 Euro), and a cash prize of 10,000 Euro from Barrandov Studio. It was the first year that projects from the Middle East were included in the selection. The Eurimages Lab Project prize went to the project Normal (Italy, Sweden) by director Adele Tulli. The prize was awarded in the value of 50,000 Euro. The Docs in Progress prize of 5000 EUR in cash went to the project The Projectionist (Ukraine, Germany, Poland) directed by Yuriy Shylov.
