2019-06-13

PRAGUE: The Prague International Film Festival – Febiofest has named former Berlinale programmer Nikolaj Nikitin as its new artistic director. Nikitin also began working with the Cottbus Film Festival and MIDPOINT this year, and is the founder and head of SOFA.

The announcement was made by Febiofest director Kamil Spáčil, who said, “I’m glad that I can welcome Nikolaj to our team as the new artistic director of Febiofest. His extensive experience as a film expert, interest in new trends in this field and, especially, his international contacts will surely help us to push the festival forward and also enhance its reputation in the world.”

The top artistic spot at Febiofest has been in flux, following the replacement of its long-time husband and wife team Stefan Uhrik and Hana Cielova after the 2017 festival. A pair of relative unknowns, Anna Kopecka and Michal Hogenauer, were joint programme directors for 3 years.

The 27th edition of Febiofest is scheduled for 19 – 27 March 2020.
