Telefonica announces increase in Czech subscribers

Spanish pay-TV provider Telefonica announced that subscribers in the Czech Republic rose by more than 10% in the third quarter of 2008.

In a company statement, Telefonica said it added 10,143 subscribers for its local IPTV service O2 TV at the end of the third quarter of this year, reaching a total of 108,061 subscribers.

The company has 2.1 million customers worldwide, primarily in South America. The Czech Republic is Telefonica's only pay-TV venture in Central Europe, although it offers mobile phone services in Slovakia.
