PRAGUE: Czech screenwriter/director Jiří Vejdělek is in production of his new comedy Men in Hope, the follow-up to his hit film Women in Temptation. The film will premiere in Czech cinemas on 25 August 2011, a change from the previously scheduled September/October release.
The dark comedy is called a "free sequel" to Women in Temptation (produced by Falcon, www.falcon.cz), the most successful Czech domestic movie of 2010 with over 1.2 million viewers acording to the Czech Union of Film Distributors (www.ufd.cz).
Filming began in January and continues to April. The shooting takes place around Prague's Old Town Square, where one of the characters, played by popular Czech actor Jiří Macháček, opens a restaurant.
The movie is produced by Vejdělek and Tomáš Hoffman and the company Infinity (www.infinity.cz). Coproducers of the CZK 28 million (1.1 million euros) comedy are the energy company RWE (www.rwe.cz), TV Nova (www.nova.cz) and Falcon production and distribution company (www.falcon.cz)
"It should be a true story about men and their real hopes, fears and expectations. And also their infidelity, which can sometimes create even a happy marriage and relationship," Vejdělek said, describing the simple plot.
Simona Stašová, Bolek Polívka, Lukáš Langmajer and Eva Kerekésová round out the cast.
