Radim Spacek’s Walking Too Fast Scoops Top Prizes at Czech Lions

    PRAGUE: Radim Špaček's thriller about a Communist secret police agent was the clear winner at this year's Czech Lions (www.ceskylev.cz) sweeping the five top prizes including Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, and Best Leading Actor. The Czech equivalent of the Oscars the annual event organized by the Czech Film and Television Academy (www.cfta.cz) was held at Prague's Lucerna Hall on Saturday, 5 March 2011.

    Spacek's thriller was a favourite going into the event with a record 13 nominations making it a contender in every category possible. The award for Best Actress went to Zuzana Bydzovska in Mamas and Papas directed by Alice Nellis while Best Documentary went to Helena Trestikova for her study of a drug addict Katka. Lifetime achievement award went to scriptwriter Zdeněk Svěrák.
