Finnish Best Seller Films in Estonia

By FNE Staff
TALLINN: Purge, a Finnish film based on a national best-selling novel, is currently in production in Estonia where the entire shoot will take place.

Filming began in September and will last until December 2011. The film is directed by Antti Jokinen.

The original novel Purge was written by Sofi Oksanen and won, among other awards, the European Book Prize of 2010. The story, which crosses time periods and generations, is rooted in the Stalinist era deportation of Estonians to Siberia.

The film received financial support from the Estonian Film Foundation (www.efsa.ee) and is coproduced by Estonian company Taska Film.

TrustNordisk is handling international sales.
