Tallinn Gets Third Multiplex

By

TALLINN: The capital city of Estonia, Tallinn (population 430,000), is to get a third multiplex cinema in 2015. The new cinema will have six screens and a total capacity of 800 seats.

The cinema will be located in the high-rise residential district of Mustamäe and will be operated under the Apollo brand.

The new multiplex will embrace the Apollo concept of tying in a cinema, a bookshop and other recreational facilities. The company already operates one seven-screen multiplex cinema in Tallinn with a 1,600 seat capacity and a miniplex in the resort town of Pärnu with 3 screens and 420 seats.

Estonia currently has six cinemas with more than two screens apiece for a population of 1.3 million. The number of cinema admissions has grown steadily for each of the last five years and reached 2.5 million in 2013, or 1.9 per capita. The total box office revenue in 2013 was 11.8 million euros.

Apollo operates 11 bookshops in the Baltics. The group belongs to the Estonian capital and its turnover in 2013 was 13.2 M EUR.
