TALLINN: Landscape with Many Moons (Maastik mitme kuuga), the controversial feature film debut of Estonia’s internationally best known contemporary artist Jaan Toomik, struggled to find a festival slot but is now screening in the Tridens Estonian Film Prize section of the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival.

The film was produced by Ivo Felt of Allfilm (Estonia) and coproduced by Kaarle Aho of Making Movies (Finland). The film’s budget was 623,000 euros of which the Estonian Film Institute provided a total of 342,237 EUR.

The loosely narrated story is a drama about a middle-aged man living a seemingly ordinary family life but in actuality living on the edge of reality dealing with the topics of death, sexuality, fear and alienation. The film premiered on 2 October 2014.
