TALLINN: Estonian production Class Reunion, a remake slapstick comedy by Rene Vilbre, has broken the all-time opening weekend box office record for a domestic film in Estonia with over 33,000 admissions and more than 191,000 EUR gross.
The previous admissions record for an Estonian film dates back to 2015 when Elmo Nüganen’s historical epic 1944, also produced by Taska Film, registered 19,000 admissions in its opening weekend.
Class Reunion / Klassikokkutulek opened in a record 34 cinemas across the country. It is a rare Estonian remake based on the Danish comedy Klassefesten (2011) by Niels Norlov Hansen, which also had a Finnish remake. The original script was penned by Claudia Boderke and Lars Mering, while the Estonian adaptation was written by Martin Algus.
Class Reunion is an Estonian production of Taska Film. It was released in Estonia on 19 February 2016 by Forum Cinemas AS, which also operates the Forum Cinemas chain in Estonia.
