Estonia debates cancelling TV fees

By FNE Staff
Estonia's governing coalition is moving toward cancelling $2.3 million in annual license taxes paid by Kanal2 and TV3,

According to local reports, the move may be politically motivated in the run up to elections.

Complicating the discussion, Estonia's public broadcaster ETV no longer broadcasts commercials and has had its budget cut by $3.5 million by the government. Representatives from Estonian National Broadcasting are protesting the move to eliminate the taxes while slashing ETV's budget.
