Tallinn Black Nights FF Winners

    TALLINN: The 14th Tallinn Nights FF (19 November - 5 December 2010) worked hand in hand with the European Film Awards this year which were held in Tallinn on 4 December. The closing ceremony of the film festival was held on 3 December with Black Nights fest director Tiina Lokk on stage for both events. The Russian director Sergei Loznitsa won the award for best film in the festival's main competition for his film My Joy which has already screened in competition in Cannes and many other festivals this year.     The Estonian production The Temptation of St Tony won the FIPRECSI award for best film as well as two of the main prizes in the Baltic Feature Film Competition. The film is an Estonian, Swedish, Finnish coproduction which has enjoyed substantial international art house sales this year. It is currently being released theatrically in seven cities across the USA.

    Another coproduction to score was The Poll Diaries that won the best director prize for Chris Kraus. The film which was shot mostly in Estonia is an Austrian, Estonian, German coproduction.

    Industry screenings were organized with the Baltic Event from 1-3 December and included the Black Market film screenings of new productions from neighbouring countries and the Baltic Screenings of films form Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. The Black Nights and Baltic Event have become the main venue in the region for industry professionals who attend the annual co-production market.
