Finnish Attendance Continues to Climb

By FNE Staff

HELSINKI: Cinema attendance is up 14 percent over 2011 admissions, at 3.5 million, with domestic films attracting 1.3 million viewers, or 37 percent of all tickets sold.

Four Finnish films have broken 100,000 admissions in 2012. The summer will see four more domestic premieres in July and August.

Finnish films will have their own showcase this year at the The Helsinki International Film Festival (www.hiff.fi). Finnish Film Affair, taking place 25-27 September 2012, is the first industry showcase for new domestic films aimed at sales agents, buyers and press. It includes new feature films and works-in-progress, an industry panel and networking events.
