TBILISI: Georgian director Nino Basilia’s debut feature, The Naked, which has just wrapped a 27 day shoot, is a social drama about a mother desperately trying to get to the U.S. with her autistic child. The main actors are Eka Demetradze, Lika Okroshidze, Kote Janjgava and Lasha Murjikneli.
Zhana Karine Sardlishvili is producing through Studio 99 with the support of the Georgian National Film Center (GNFC). The budget is 200,000 EUR with 100,000 EUR coming from GNFC and 50,000 EUR provided by the producer who is now looking for another 50,000 EUR to finalise the budget. “We can offer interested studios the option of coproduction for this amount of money”, Zhana Karine Sardlishvili told FNE.
The project was developed in August-October 2015. Scheduled for 30 shooting days, the film was shot in 27 days in April-May 2015. Vakhtang Kotetishvili is the DoP. If the funds are found in time, the postproduction will wrap in October 2015 with the Georgian release set for summer 2016. No sales agent or local distributor is attached to the project yet.
