TBILISI: Salomé Jashi is in postproduction with The Station, a 90-minute documentary about the sole journalist of Jikha TV, a two-man broadcasting station in a small Georgian town.

She travels around the town in search of news, quietly unveiling the aspirations of the locals. The film is a mosaic, made up of various components, which are united by the TV and the circumstances related to being a performer. Salomé Jashi is also the DoP and is producing through Georgia's Sakdoc Film in coproduction with Urte Fink and Gregor Streiber through Germany's Inselfilm Produktion.

Jashi told FNE that the project is supported by Robert Bosch Stiftung, the Georgian National Film Center (GNFC), the US Embassy in Georgia, MDR/Arte (La Lucarne) and YLE, but preferred not to disclose the budget. The project participated recently at Docu Talents from the East during Karlovy Vary IFF (KVIFF). Shooting took place for four months in June-July 2015. The film is expected to be completed by February 2016.

Salomé Jashi is a documentary filmmaker from Georgia, currently based in Berlin. Her latest film, Bakhmaro (2011) received an Honorary Mention for a Young Documentary Talent at DOK Leipzig.
