TBILISI: Mariam Chachia’s documentary Listen to Silence, a Georgian/French documentary focusing on a deaf-mute children’s school of Tbilisi, will go into postproduction in January 2016, after wrapping shooting in June 2015.

Listen to the Silence is a film about the Tbilisi Public School for Deaf Children where students learn to dance by memorizing musical rhythms through kinesthetic learning. Music is an elusive force to them, helping in their quest to understand the world.

Nino Jincharadze is producing through OpyoDoc in coproduction with Hugues Landry through France’s In the mood. The budget is 55,652 EUR of which 40,000 EUR is secured, Jincharadze told FNE. The project is supported by the Georgian National Film Center, the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs, Save the Children, and LLC Castel-Georgia.

The 22-day shoot started on 16 May 2015. The film is in pre-postproduction. There will be two versions: a 54- minute version for TV and a 70-minute version for festivals. The film is expected to be finished in July 2016.
