The story written by Husson is set in Kurdistan. Bahar played by Golshifteh Farahani is the commander in chief of the Girls of the Sun, a Kurdish female battalion. She is about to take back the town where she was previously captured by the extremists. French journalist Mathilde played by Emmanuelle Bercot covers the first three days of the offensive. Through their encounter, Bahar relives the experience of how the men dressed in black changed the course of her existence.
