Taxidermia is the second feature film by the young director, whose debut Hukkle in 2002 won Best First Film at the European Film Awards and has been screened at more than 100 film festivals. The committee's selection was announced Sept. 6.
Taxidermia was produced by Budapest based Eurofilm Studio (www.eurofilm.hu) headed by Péter Miskolczi and Gábor Váradi. World sales rights for the movie is handled by Fortissimo Films (www.fortissimofilms.com). Taxidermia has already been released in Austrian, Belgian, Dutch, French, German, Norwegian and U.K. theatres, with releases planned soon in American and Far and Middle Eastern cinemas.
The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences will announce the five nominations for best foreign-language film from among the national entries on Jan.. 22, 2008. The Academy Awards presentations will be held Feb. 24.
