TV2 wins Champion League

    Hungarian commercial channel TV2 (www.tv2.hu) has landed rights to broadcast weekly Champions League matches for the next three years.

    TV2 will be the only nationwide TV channel in Hungary which will show CL matches beginning this summer. Previously Viasat3 (www.viasat3.hu) and Hungarian public broadcaster MTV (www.mtv.hu) held the rights to broadcast CL matches in Hungary.

    TV2 will broadcast a total of 18 live matches including the UEFA Super Cup and the UEFA Champions League finale as well as broadcasting the UEFA Champions League magazine every weekend. TV2 also holds internet broadcast rights of all the matches. TV2 reportedly paid an estimated 3.3 million euros for the three year term rights.

    TV2 is one of the leading commercial TV channel in Hungary competing with RTL Klub. Since July 2007, TV2 hs been owned by ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG (www.prosiebensat1.com).
