Production: Zombie Age in preproduction

By Gyorgy Karpati

Academy Award nominated Hungarian director Geza M. Toth (Maestro) is in preproduction with the animated feature film The Zombie Age.

Previously going by the title Tomi's Struggle, the story won the pitching forum in 2007 at Croatia's Animafest in Zagreb.

The film is produced by Hungary's Katapult Film (www.katapultfilm.hu) under managing producers Ivan Angelusz and Peter Reich. The Hungarian producers are now seeking international co-production partners. "There's international interest but so far there's no signed contract," Reich told FNE.

The €1 million film received €40,000 in 2008 from the Motion Picture Foundation of Hungary (www.mmka.hu).

Toth was nominated for Academy Award for his short animation Maestro in 2007. Screenplay writer Peter Szajki shared the feature film director prize at the Hungarian Film Week for Intimate Headshot.

The story is a semi-realistic tale of today's teen world through the eyes of a teenager and his connection with computer games.

The premier is planned not earlier than autumn 2010.
