Marcell Jankovics to receive World Arts Award

    Hungarian director Marcell Jankovics has been named the 2009 recepient of the Leonardo da Vinci World Award of Arts.

    The award will be presented in a ceremony on November 25 in Liege, Belgium.

    Jankovics is being honored for his achievements as "an extraordinary animator and film-maker," according to the announcement statement. He is the co-founder the DUNA TV (1992), a Hungarian-speaking channel with English subtitles. His many animation credits include three full-length Hungarian films, work with Disney Studio, and managing director of Pannonia Film studio.
