FNE at Hungarian Film Week: Czukor Show

By Dávid Dercsényi

Tamás Dömötör's Czukor Show takes on the cruelty of TV talk shows - the film was inspired by a show featuring a woman who killed her own child.

The film is based on a play by Milán Füst, where poor individuals appear on a TV programme, Czukor Show. The theatrical version was key to a quick film schedule; the film was shot in 10 days, with six cameras capturing the action.

The budget was HUF 100 million. The film was produced by KMH Film (www.kmhfilm.com), with producers Ferenc Pusztai and Inez Matis. The Swedish coproduction partner was Anagram Produktion AB (www.anagramproduktion.se), and some post-production work was done in Sweden. The MMKA (www.mmka.hu) granted the film HUF 22 million.
