Cartoon Forum heads to Hungary

By FNE Staff
Cartoon Forum, the European coproduction forum for TV and new platform animation, will be held in a new EU country for the first time this year, in the Hungarian border city of Sopron, September 14-17, 2010. Over 100 projects were submitted for 60 available slots, an increase of 20%.

Cartoon Forum (www.cartoon-media.be) is supported by the EU MEDIA programme. Since its first edition in 1990, some 430 projects presented at Cartoon Forum have secured 1.5 billion Euros in financing. Around 250 professionals are expected to attend, including over 100 broadcasters.

This year the forum chose 63 projects for presentation, including a record 11 projects from new EU countries. All selected projects must have completed the preproduction phase and be ready to go into production. On average, 1/3 of Cartoon Forum projects complete financing within two years.
