CineFest received MEDIA funding

By Zsolt Gyenge
CineFest, the international film festival held in the northern Hungarian city of Miskolc, has received funding support from the MEDIA program of the European Union (http://ec.europa.eu) for the second year. The financial support means that CineFest ( http://www.cinefest.hu) will screen mainly European productions as a condition of the funding.

The festival has grown annually in size and prestige, and several cult-films have started here their Hungarian carreer there.

The festival is also supported by the International Visegrad Fund (http://www.visegradfund.org/), and the organizers have signed an exclusive sponsoring agreement with the Irish company, Jameson.

CineFest will be held September 10-19. Organizers say the feature competition will be stronger than last year. Some 500 films have been entered in the animation, short fiction and documentary sections.
