The Turin Horse Sells in 23 Countries

    Berlinale Grand Prix and FIPRESCI winner Béla Tarr's The Turin Horse sold to 23 countries during the European Film Market. More sales are expected.

    International sales company Films Boutique (www.filmsboutique.com) said the theatrical and DVD rights of the black and white art house movie were acquired by distributors from Belgium, South-Korea, the United Kingdom, France, Greece, Japan, the Netherlands, Poland, Germany, Italy, Russia, Portugal and others. At the end of the Berlinale, Films Boutique was still in negotiations with potential partners from the United States, the Baltic countries, Mexico and Spain.

    The Turin Horse will premier in Hungary on 10 March 2011. The film is a coproduction of Hungary (T. T. Filmműhely), France (MPM Film, www.mpmfilm.com), Switzerland (VEGA Film, www.vegafilm.com), Germany (zero Fiction, www.zerofiction.eu) and the United States (Werc Werk Works, www.wercwerkworks.com).

    Tarr has announced that after this movie he is retiring from directing and will only work as a producer, looking for young talents with a unique voice.
