Latvia Increases Budget for Incentives in 2019

    RIGA: The National Film Centre of Latvia will allot less money for minority coproductions, but more for the incentives programme in 2019.

    The funding for the incentives programme will increase from 576,825 EUR in 2018 to 858,013 EUR in 2019. Latvian minority coproductions will receive 300,000 EUR in 2019 compared to 581,000 EUR in 2018.

    International productions shooting in Latvia can apply for incentives every month by October 2019 and will be served on a first come first served basis.

    In 2018 three foreign film projects received funding for filming in Latvia totaling 576,825 EUR. Most of the funding (561,889 EUR) went to Tasse Film for the Dutch series Heirs of the Night directed by Diederik Van Rooijen and produced by Lemming Film, and the Finnish feature film Dogs Don't Wear Pants directed by J-P Valkeapaa and produced by Helsinki- filmi Oy.
