Cyprus makes a surprise appearance with a Cypriot/Greek coproduction directed by Panicos Chrysanthou. Three of the projects originate in Central Europe, with two animated films from the Czech Republic and Poland and a feature film from Croatia. Finland scores with two films receiving funds.
Half of the projects have some CEE involvement, with Estonia, Hungary, Slovakia and Slovenia as well as Poland engaged as coproducers.
The distribution support programme based on non-national European films distributed during the first six months of 2013, is granting some 135 800 EUR to 8 distributors for 32 films distributed in Bosnia and Herzegovina, “The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia”, Hungary, Poland, Serbia and Turkey. A sister programme, to raise public awareness of European cinema has granted 136,418 EUR in support to four innovative projects.
