VILNIUS: The most esteemed Lithuanian filmmaker, Sharunas Bartas, is in production with Dovydo akmuo, a drama about love, hate and hope. This Lithuanian/French/Ukrainian coproduction is currently shooting in Lithuania with the premiere set for 2017.
The main character of the film is a young man, who undertakes a long journey and meets various people at the Ukrainian border. The film also compares the struggle for independence of both Lithuania and Ukraine in different periods of time.
Dovydo akmuo is produced by Jurga Dikčiuvienė through Studio Kinema in coproduction with France‘s Kino Elektron and Ukraine‘s TatoFilm.
The project is supported by the Lithuanian Ministry of Culture and the Lithuanian Film Centre with a total amount of 644,000 EUR. The producers haven’t disclosed the budget or the cast.
Shooting takes place in Lithuania, Ukraine and Poland, and is expected to wrap in December 2016. The premiere is set for 2017 in France.
