Production Vortex prepares September release

    Film studio Studija 2 is preparing the theatrical release of the Lithuanian feature film Vortex (Duburys) on September 4, 2009..

    The film has already won the Silver Crane award in Lithuania, for best actress Oksana Borbat, and best supporing actors Vladimiras Jefrenovas and Jūratė Onaitytė.

    Duburys is produced by Studija 2 with lead producers Arūnas Stoškus and Kęstutis Petrulis in collaboration with Lithuanian Film Studios (www.lfs.lt).

    The story of the generation who lived through the entire Soviet period is told through the main character: his childhood spent in a village, true friendship, work in Soviet Klaipėda, thrilling eroticism and the fatal love - everything is so simple and so achingly real. According to the director, Gytis Lukšas, Vortex is a film about a man who was broken by the Soviet gloom and whose life stayed unnoticed. The film is based on a story by Lithuanian writer Romualdas Granauskas.

    The film is budgeted at €700,000 (2.4 million Lt.)

    The film was financed in part by the Lithuanian Film Studio, which contributed €115,000 (400,000 Lt.), Lithuanian Ministery of Culture (www.lrkm.lt) - €510,000 (1,760,000 Lt), the Lithuanian Culture and Sport Support Foundation (www.ksrf.lt), which contributed € 75,000 (260,000 Lt) and Vilnius city municipality with €3,000 (10,000 Lt.).
