Two Lithuanian shorts ready for release

By

Film studio Studija 2 is preparing for release two short features: Perl by director Laimantas Kairys and Intrigue of Reality directed by Justinas Lingys. Both films are produced by Arunas Stoskus and Kestutis Petrulis, who founded the independent Studija 2 in 2004.

Perl, which runs 25 minutes, is the story of an older man and his futile search for his son's love. The leading role is played by Jonas Vaitkus, a theater and film director well-known in Lithuania and throughout Europe who has directed many films and more than 60 plays. It is expected to premiere in November.

The 30-minute film Intrigue of Reality is about a young woman's homecoming after seven years of wandering. The main characters are played by theatre and cinema actor Vytautas Paukste and Valda Bickute, who is making her debut. The film is expected to screen at the beginning of 2008.

Both films are supported by the Lithuanian Ministry of Culture, which supplied each with a €30,000 grant.
