By Auksė Kancerevičiūtė

VILNIUS: The Lithuanian market research and consulting company TNS LT reports that media advertising in Lithuania fell 1.5 % in 2010. Media advertising totaled 324.6 Million LTL. In 2009 media advertising fell 39.2%.

As in previous years, the largest share of advertising revenue in 2010 came from TV and newspaper advertising, 47% (153 Million LTL) and 18.5% (60 Million LTL) respectively. Advertising revenue in magazines generated 10.5% (34 Million LTL), radio advertising took 8%, outdoor advertisements 6.8%, internet 7.7%, and cinema 0.3%.

According to TNS LT Director, Gytis Juodpusis, in 2009, the slump in the Lithuanian advertising market was worse than expected, returning to the level of early 2004. In 2010 the advertising market has apparently stabilized. The TV advertising market grew 5.5% and the internet segment was up 25%.

However, the rest of the media advertising spending continued to decline. The biggest slump of the Lithuanian advertising market was advertising in cinema, down 18%, and outdoor advertising, down 17%.
