French films make major gains at Polish box office

    WARSAW: French films made major gains at the Polish box office in 2010 compared to 2009 with 6.050.224 Euros earned by French films in 2010 compared to 1 463 955 Euros in 2009. This represents a gain of 4.2% in 2010 compared to 2009.

    The gains were mainly fueled by the success of the top four French titles Le Petit Nicolas distributed by Warsaw based Forum Film (www.forumfilm.pl), Arthur et la vengeance de Maltazard and L’Arnocoeur distributed by Monolith Films (www.monolith.pl_ and De l’autre cote du lit distributed by Kino Swiat International (www.kinoswiat.pl).

    Joel Chapron who is responsible for Central and Eastern Europe at Unifrance said: “We are happy about the results for 2010 in the Polish market. France had strong titles in 2010 and these have found success with Polish audiences who have always enjoyed French films.”

    Le Petit Nicolas was released in 110 prints had 165 552 admissions in 2010 and 438 227 Euros at the Polish box office. Arthur et la vengenance de Maltazard was released by 65 prints and had 127, 185 admissions and 508, 057 Euros at the box office. L’Arnocoeur was released in 62 prints and had 106 003 admissions and 465 419 Euros at the box office. De l’autre cote du lit was released in 60 prints and had 114 429 admissions and 510 803 Euros at the box office.
