By Katarzyna Grynienko

WARSAW: 4:13 To Katowice, the first Polish thriller made only for 3D screenings, will have its premiere on 21 October 2011 in Warsaw. The film will be first presented in a 5D cinema, which provides additional stimulation for the senses.

{mosimage}4:13 To Katowice is a dramatic film made fully in 3D technology. Previous Polish forays in the area of 3D and 5D have been limited to animited films for entertainment purposes. The film follows Artur, a man that doesn't know how to cope with the death of a loved one. He devises a vengeance plan: at exactly 4:13 he will catch a train at a station in Wrocław, kill a man at 6:02 and get out in Katowice, where he will smile for the first time in two years.

The film was directed and written by Andrzej Stopa, a young filmmaker from Katowice. The lead role is played by Robert Więckiewicz, winner of the Best Actor Polish Eagles Prize 2011 for Little Rose and Best Actor at the Warsaw FF (www.wff.pl) for Courage. The cast includes Ewa Kutynia, Mikołaj Woubishet and Weronika Borek.

{mosimage}4:13 To Katowice is produced by East Pictures (www.eastpictures.pl), a Polish company focused on young Polish filmmakers and new film technology. The executive producer of the title is FlyFilm (www.flyfilm.pl), a company founded by Stopa and cinematographer Piotr Kalkowski.

"For some people, the third dimension is still a technical novelty, but we see it as another tool in the film workshop, with multiple usage possibilities that haven't been investigated yet.The effect of the depth can be used to express more of the character's emotions, increase the tension and build the mood of the film similarly to music. My goal is not to add '3D' next to the title just because it is trendy and profitable. For me it is significant to research the possibilities and limitations that lay in this still fresh and developing technology." Stopa told FNE.

The film will open cinemas in the Extreme 5D (www.kino5dextreme.pl) chain, which incorporates special effects that pull the viewers into the action such as the blast of wind, rain drops and motion.
