Lucky Woman is inspired by the true story of a woman who was a spy for Polish counter-espionage during World War II. Working under the alias 993/W, she had a license to kill the traitors but instead used her position to support Irena Sendler and save Jews and Poles.

"It's a Polish James Bond type story that we want to use in order to bring this subject closer to younger viewer. We will try to retire the martyrdom aspect of this topic and use elements of action and spy films. It is significant that a story of Polish heroic women will be told by Polish filmmakers. We want to portray these women and their incredible courage, character and uncompromising approach in every situation," Pytka, the director/screenwriter told FNE during the 2nd Regiofun IFF (www.regiofun.eu) in Katowice.

Pytka is also renowned as a Polish journalist and a poet. Since 1994 she has been co-operating with TVP (www.tvp.pl) and has directed over 200 TV productions in various genres including advertising, creative documentaries, comedy shows and fiction series as well as TV theater. In 1999 she had directed a fictionalized documentary, Der Bernstenwald, aired by the German public broadcaster ZDF (ww.zdf.de) and international channel Arte (www.arte.tv). In 2010 she directed and produced a comedy for cinema, Silence Is Golden. In 2011 she received the Special Jury Award for the best historical drama for The Tail Operation at History Makers 2011 in New York (www.historymakers2011.com).

Lucky Woman will be an English language co-production between Python Films and a Canadian co-producer. The film will move into production in the fall of 2012.
