Popławska Wins Cybulski Prize

    WARSAW: The Cybulski Prize (www.nagrodacybulskiego.pl), an annual award for best performance from a Polish actor under age 35, was given to Magdalena Popławska for her role in A Simple Story about Love.

    The prize included a cash award of 10,000 PLN.

    "I am very happy that the award is also financial, because our film is a representative of independent cinema and this is probably the only money that Magda will receive for this part," the director Arkadiusz Jakubik said while accepting the prize on behalf of the actress. A Simple Story about Love was produced in 2010 by Tramway Film Studio (www.tramway.pl).

    The audience prize was given to Jakub Gierszał for his performance in Suicide Room directed by Jan Komasa.

    Magdalena Popławska (born in 1980) is a graduate of the Ludwik Solski Academy of the Dramatic Arts in Krakow and the Barcelona Institute de Teatre in scholarship winner. Her feature film debut was a role in the drama Perfect Afternoon . She appeared in several popular Polish television series including 39 and a Half and Cold Feet. Her feature acting credits include performances in the dramas 0 1 0, Zero and Fear Of Flying.
