PRODUCTION: Bromski in Production with A Trip to the Moon

    WARSAW: Jacek Bromski began shooting on a coming of age story set in Poland of the 1960's, A Trip to the Moon, on 2 August 2012 in Kazimierz Dolny.

    Production will move on to locations in Rabka, Mszana Dolna, Chabówka, Krakow, Swinoujscie and Warsaw later in the month. The film is produced by Jacek Bromski with a budget of 5.8 m PLN including 2.9 m PLN in financing from the Polish Film Institute (www.pisf.pl).

    A Trip to the Moon is a tragicomedy taking place in 1969, when Neil Armstrong landed on the Moon, against the backdrop of the reality of life in the communist People's Republic of Poland. Two brothers take a road trip before the younger heads off to join the army, with the older brother trying to prepare him for the rough life in the unit. They travel through Poland meeting old friends and making new acquaintances.


    The leading roles are played by Filip Pławiak, making his debut with this feature, and rising young Polish actor Mateusz Kościukiewicz (All That I Love and Mother Teresa of Cats). The cast includes Krzysztof Stroiński and Bożena Adamek. The director of photography is Michał Englert, (33 Scenes from Life) and the set designer is Marek Zawierucha (Agnieszka Holland's Janosik. A True Story and Wojciech Smarzowski's Rose).

    Bromski (www.jacekbromski.pl), a prominent director, screenwriter and producer, has been president of the Polish Filmmakers Association (www.sfp.org.pl) since 1998. Among his best known works are the box office hit comedy trilogy about life of a small provincial community Snug As A Bug In a Rug, God's Little Garden and God's Little Village.

    The premiere is planned for the first half of 2013.
